ASDC Martial Arts

Being born in Newark, New Jersey Renshi Ralph Metz found himself in constant confrontations; seeking guidance from his father, an ex-Marine Drill Sargent and Korean War veteran. He was first trained in military tactics and defense; after gaining some competency in the art of self-defense he began training in Shorinryu Karate-do until the school closed at the age of 14. Not being able to continue his training with any other Dojo's he began his development in local boxing gyms until he met his soon to be wife at the age of 17. He continued his training within boxing until he moved to Pennsylvania in 1989, where he began his Isshinryu Karate-do training; reaching his Shodan in 1993. He then founded ASDC in 2003, by that time he had been training within the Martial Arts for over 40 years. Holding a 6th degree Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate-do, he has also trained in Boxing and Jujutsu, specializing in self-defense and combative tactics.
